Failed your MOT, or won't start?
ELV passes your car details to a vehicle buyer. We do not buy cars or take payment.
ELV / Non-runners and MOT failures
Repair it, or sell it as it is?
MOT defects are graded dangerous, major or minor, and testers also note advisories. A dangerous or major defect is a fail; minor defects pass. Do not drive a car with a dangerous defect until it is repaired. (gov.uk: after the MOT test.)
Start with the car's postcode on the form. One buyer will quote you.
Cars you can ask about
- Cars that failed their MOT
- Cars that won't start or won't move
- Flood and accident damage
- Cars with no keys, or on SORN
Paperwork and payment
The buyer arranges the paperwork, including the Certificate of Destruction where the car is scrapped.
The buyer agrees the price with you before collection and pays you directly when the sale is completed. In England, Wales and Scotland, the law does not let scrap car buyers pay cash. In Northern Ireland, ask your buyer to pay by bank transfer. ELV never holds or handles your money. What can change the buyer's price.
