Who we are
ELV (End of Life Vehicles) ("we", "us") runs this website and is responsible for the personal information collected through it. Connor Walsh trading as ELV. Business type: Sole trader (not a registered company).
Contact us about your information: hello@endoflifevehicles.co.uk, 55 Palmerston Road, Chatham, Kent, ME4 5SJ.
What is collected, why, and who gets it
We collect your name, phone number, email address (if you give it), postcode and car details to pass your enquiry to one vehicle buyer, a separate business that decides how it uses your details to quote you and arrange collection. We do this because you ask us to (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(b)). The buyer may pay us a fee for each enquiry it receives, whether or not you sell. The buyer may use your details only for this car and must not add them to a marketing list or pass them on. You can ask to see, correct or delete them at hello@endoflifevehicles.co.uk and complain to the ICO.
Each enquiry goes to one vehicle buyer that covers its postcode. We tell you who straight away.
We have no buyer for some areas yet. If that is your area, we tell you straight after you give the postcode, and we have not taken your details.
ELV also keeps your email address and postcode district if you tick the box offering one email when a buyer covers your area. We use them for that one email only, then delete them, or after 180 days if no buyer starts. We also keep a scrambled code made from your email address, so you're counted once in your area's 30-day total. We delete it when that 30-day period ends, even if you leave the list sooner.
We do not ask for ID, your V5C logbook or bank details on this website.
This site sets no cookies of its own and saves nothing in your browser. See Cookies.
Where your enquiry goes today
We don't keep your name, phone number or email address in a form anyone can read. They go in one email to the buyer, and the buyer keeps them under its own privacy notice. We keep a reference, the date, your postcode area and district, and the buyer's name, so we can invoice the buyer and answer questions about your enquiry. So that each person is counted only once in our monthly enquiry numbers, we keep a scrambled code made from your phone number or email address, created with a secret key so it can't be read back as your number or address. We do this for our legitimate interest in counting real enquiries accurately (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(f)). We delete it when the 30-day counting period it falls in ends, so we keep it for 31 days at most. We keep these for as long as we must keep business records. Our website and email run on Cloudflare, which hosts the site, sends the enquiry email and runs the security check on the form (Cloudflare Turnstile). Turnstile sees your IP address and browser details to tell people from bots. To stop one connection sending too many enquiries, we keep a scrambled version of your IP address for 7 days. Our technical logs hold no names or contact details and are deleted within 7 days. Deleted records can stay in our database backups for up to 30 more days. If you use the contact form, your name, email and message come to us by email, and we delete them 12 months after we last reply.
Marketing
We won't send you news or adverts because you got in touch. We'd only do that if you separately asked us to, and you could stop it at any time.
Complaining to the ICO
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or 0303 123 1113.
